Seagull Advertising – Brings The Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival to Pune

Celebrating its annual tradition of presenting the globe’s greatest advertising to Pune, Seagull Advertising brought the best of Cannes Ads 2008 to Pune. The Cannes Ads 2008 Screening was jointly organized by Seagull Advertising and The Times of India on the 17th of April 2009, at the Ishanya Amphitheatre.  


The evening of Friday the 17th, was nothing less than star studded. All of 500 ad lovers made it to the theatre to devour award winning ads from the Mecca of advertising – Cannes. The air was alive, tingling with excitement and everybody looked eager to take back some lessons from the world’s best ad creatives. Keeping the spirits high of the already gung ho crowd was the bar, the hors d'oeuvres and dinner. The Seagull Team present in their red tees with the quintessential Kreative Keeda TM on the back, played perfect hosts. 


The Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival is a global festival for the ad fraternity. The seven day festival, that includes the awarding of the Lions awards, is held annually in the city of Cannes, France. More than 10,000 delegates from around the world attend the Festival every year in order to view the shortlisted work, attend seminars, workshops and First Master Classes. There are also four award ceremonies and two beach galas. The first edition of the festival was in September 1954 and was held in Venice. In 1955 it was held in Monte Carlo, and in 1956 in Cannes, after which it alternated between Venice and Cannes until 1984, since when it has been held in Cannes.


“Not many ad lovers can make it to Cannes every year. That is why we thought we will bring Cannes to them” – said Sameer Desai, MD, Seagull Advertising. After all, no ad professional worth his salt can do without his annual dose of Cannes.
